Laser Periodontal Therapy (LPT)

Laser Periodontal Therapy® (LPT) is a new revolutionary procedure that requires less time and provides a much more gentle, comfortable way to treat your gum disease.

Traditionally, treating gum disease required invasive surgery on your gums. Surgically removing the diseased gum tissue, stitching the infected area and placing an uncomfortable dressing over the healing tissue. The new Laser Periodontal Therapy uses a laser on your gums to treat the diseased area.(Similar to how LASIX is used to treat eyes).

Compared with 8-10 sessions of traditional gum surgery, LPT requires much less of your time too. Typically, two 2-hour sessions! Plus, you won’t have to worry about bleeding, stitches, or post-treatment infection, because your gums haven’t been cut.

You’ll also recover quicker – usually less than 24 hours. Results will last longer too – 98% of patients treated remain stable after 5 years. Laser treatment is also safe for patients with health concerns including diabetes, HIV, hemophilia, or those on certain medications.

Long-lasting results from:

  • Red swollen gums
  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath or bad taste in the mouth
  • Gum tenderness or pain
  • Changes in the way teeth fit together when you bite
  • Teeth that have shifted or loosened
  • Receding gum line
